The 21st Annual Kiwanis Special Olympics Trout Fishing Derby

A Fund Raiser to Benefit Special Olympics

 Saturday, July 15, 2017, at Wishon Lake in Fresno County

"WOULDN'T IT BE GREAT IF YOU CAUGHT A $10,000 FISH!"

The derby will begin at 6 a.m. and conclude at 4 p.m.

There will be available for purchase:
*Breakfast Burritos and Coffee*
*BBQ Hamburgers*

Hopefully, you will be able to help make this event successful and will be able to attend. Maybe YOU will be the Lucky person to catch the $10,000 grand prize trout! If the $10,000 fish is not caught during the day of the Derby, it will be worth $1,000 through September 30, 2017, to ALL Fishing Derby Registrants. In addition, there will be 400 tagged trout worth $100, $50 or $25 each. There will also be prizes awarded for the total inches of non-tagged trout!

The
20th Annual Kiwanis Special Olympics Trout Fishing Derby drew 664 participants on July 9, 2016, at Wishon Lake. A total of 82 tagged fish of the planted 400 were caught worth $2,450. This was a record number of tagged fish caught. The breakdown was as follows: First Prize - 10 @ $40 and 2 @$100. Second Prize - 4 @ $50. Third Prize - 66 @ $25. Prizes were also awarded for total inches of non – tagged trout for adults and children categories. The $10,000 tagged fish, number 3038, was not caught. 

The Kiwanis Special Olympics Trout Fishing Derby benefits Special Olympics and has raised a total of $138,535 for Special Olympics over the past 20 years.

The 19th
Annual Kiwanis Special Olympics Trout Fishing Derby drew over 400 participants on July 11, 2015, at Wishon Lake. A total of 74 tagged fish were caught during the event, including the $10,000 tagged fish number 2837. The Grand Prize fish was caught by Luis Fuentes of Caruthers.  This is the second time the Grand Prize fish has been caught. The first year was 2006, our tenth annual event.  In addition to the Grand Prize rainbow trout, there were 400 other tagged trout worth $100, $50 and $25 each.  A total of $3,500 was paid out. This was a record number of tagged fish caught. The breakdown was as follows: 17 @ $100, 16 @ $50 and 40 @ $25. Prizes were also awarded for total inches of non – tagged trout for adults and children categories. The first place adult winner was: Sang Xiong, of Fresno, 71.25 total inches. The first place winner for the children category was: Naythan Lee, of Fresno, 72 total inches.

The Kiwanis Special Olympics Trout Fishing Derby benefits Special Olympics and has raised a total of $132,035 for Special Olympics over the past 19 years.
